BALTIMORE – With over $470,000 of support circulating in the Baltimore community, BCSB Foundation, Baltimore County Savings Bank’s charitable arm, looks forward to additional charitable giving opportunities in 2007.

In fiscal year 2006, the BCSB Foundation contributed over $41,000 to educational, legal, historical, health and philanthropic organizations throughout the Bank’s service area which includes Baltimore, Harford, and Howard Counties as well as Baltimore City. Grants have included Carson Scholars Fund, Essex Community College, Oak Crest Village Student Scholars Program, Riderwood Elementary Exchange City, Towson University, Community Law Center, Court Appointed Special Advocates, Vincent de Paul of Baltimore, Franciscan Center, Living Classroom, Perry Hall Mansion Restoration, Heritage Society of Essex and Middle River, Hospice of Baltimore, National Kidney Foundation of Maryland and National Multiple Sclerosis Society of Baltimore.

The BCSB Foundation plays an important role in yearly operations through multiple-year grants including $12,500 over five years to Hospice of Baltimore for terminal patient care, $24,000 over eight years to Oak Crest Village’s Student Scholars Program and $12,600 over six years to Riderwood Elementary School for their Exchange City program which serves 80 fifth grade students each year. In fiscal year 2007, the Foundation has committed to $22,000 in continuing grants.

“A variety of organizations in the Baltimore area do important work by meeting specific needs in the community,” explains Joseph Bouffard, president and CEO of Baltimore County Savings Bank. “The BCSB Foundation hopes to expand its reach in the community by supporting a greater variety of organizations.”

Led by a group of appointed trustees who ensure the charitable foundation remains in touch with the community it serves, the BCSB Foundation supports local charitable, educational and scientific endeavors in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan Area. Since its inception in July 1998, the BCSB Foundation partnered with both small, local charities and large, national charities with ties in the community to help fund various programs and distributed over $470,000 in both one-time and multiple-year grants. In addition to making direct grants to various organizations, the BCSB Foundation continues to encourage the Baltimore County Savings Bank’s employees to continue to give back to the community it serves by matching the funds donated by employees to local and national charities. To date, the BCSB Foundation has matched $9,000 in employee gifts and employees recently donated 562 pounds of food and personal care items for the Maryland Food Bank.

Founded in 1955, Baltimore County Savings Bank operates under its holding company, BCSB Bankcorp, Inc. BCSB provides regional community banking solutions through 18 locations across the Baltimore metropolitan area. BCSB Bankcorp, Inc. became a publicly traded mutual holding company in July 1998.
