50 Years and Growing

On January 21, 1955, a group of businessmen joined together to form the Baltimore County Building and Loan Association. Like many associations of the time, it was open just one night a week.
The directors of the association doubled as officers, employees, and even tellers. They knew account holders by name, since many were family, friends, and neighbors. Account records were kept on cards, with dividends painstakingly calculated and written by hand.
Fast-forward 56 years, to a dramatically different banking landscape. Baltimore County Building and Loan became Baltimore County Savings and Loan, then in 1987, Baltimore County Savings Bank, FSB (BCSB), a federally-chartered stock savings bank. In 2011, Baltimore County Savings Bank converted to a Maryland-chartered commercial bank, more suitable to a bank with expanded product offerings, including a broad range of commercial and retail products and services. After operating out of one office in Perry Hall for twenty years, today BCSB has 17 locations in four Maryland counties.
But one thing hasn’t changed: our roots as a community bank mean we still know many of our customers by name, and we want to continue to serve our friends, family and neighbors.
